Presidents Message

On behalf of the Dirranbandi P&A Accociation I would like to welcome you all to what is the 100th edition of our local show. To the wider Dirranbandi community and particular all the current and past committee members of this fantastic asscoiation, I congratulate you on such an effort! In the fast paced world we live in, I feel it is important to take time out and ‘smell the roses’ and what better way to do that then attend the Dirranbandi Show in 2024; it will be one for the ages!

The Dirranbandi district has a very proud history of coming together in times of need and the show exemplifies this spirit to the ‘nth’ degree. Please make your way to the displays, highlighting the history of the Dirran Show and share your memories with all the familiar faces; there are many good yarns to be told!

The committee has worked long and hard to bring together a weekend that will highlight our local region whilst also keeping you fed, watered and enteretained. Our fantastic team of stewards have organised a long list of sections ranging from the stock horse events to the campdraft and horse ring, the sheep, wool and cattle sections. The birds and art pavilion will be over flowing with entrants, the yard dog trials are back and our newer sections in the goats and dorpers will be one not to miss.

On the entertainment front we have added a new Friday night program with a local dog jump and lawn mower races acompanied by a “Back to Dirran” BBQ and music late into the night. Saturday is no different with the star attaction being the night time Rodeo with a full list of events; from mini bull’s right through to the open saddle bronc and bull ride. Throughout the day we will have side show rides for the kids, an animal nursery, music and tricks and a Jetpack water show that is sure to wow the patrons.

The fashion parade and official opening will once again take centre stage on Saturday afternoon and we are very lucky to have three special guests to open our 100th Show! For those travellling from afar please take some time to visit all the sections on display and don’t be afraid to ‘hola’ down a local for some help and guidance; they will only be too happy to help!

I would like to again thank the committee for all their tireless efforts in pulling together this weekend; it doesn’t just happen and I am very thankful for your efforts. They say it is important to always look forward but equally important to look back to see where you’ve come; so it is that we present to you the 100th year of the Dirranbandi show, please enjoy!!
