On behalf of the Dirranbandi P&A association
On behalf of the Dirranbandi P&A association and fellow committee members, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the 98th annual Dirranbandi show. Over the past 98 years the show has evolved into a snapshot of the wonderful place in which we live, compiling itself of a uniform community.
The focus of the show is to put on a community event where everyone can come together to destress and catch up with friends and family. The event this year is especially important since the past few years have presented the shire with drought, Covid and now flooding, which has been testing all those that live within.
It is with the dedication of the 2022 committee and all the hard-working stewards behind the scenes that will ensure this show like many of the past will be hard to forget. As usual we have an action-packed weekend starting with the camp draft kicking off early Friday morning and settling into an enjoyable night at the BBQ and bar area. The Saturday morning then starts just as hot as the one before with the display of our shire’s finest animals in the sheep, wool, cattle, and poultry categories. Alongside the animal attractions, the camp drafting continues as well as special organised entertainment for the duration of the day that proceeds well into the late hours of the night.
The entertainment this year will be no less spectacular than that of the past 97 years, with the annual fashion parade and official opening being a highlight. Even though Covid has played a major factor in the past and proving to be even more so in the present, fortunately the pavilion and events will still take place. All will have Covid restrictions put into place which may limit or slow some events. But as a community this is how we can enjoy the show and continue to stay connected during the unpredictable times.
I would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all our sponsors, committee, and volunteers as without your help the show simply would not go on. Through the tireless effort of always making the show a community minded event and which ensures that there is something for everyone. Again, without the donated time, hardworking and dedication of this committee the program of the weekend would not perform as well as it does. This small association displays just how much of a tight knit community we are here within the shire.
I wish everyone an entertaining weekend and can only hope that the wet weather continues and that the community stays Covid free and safe.
